Personal Experience
My athletic career ended tragically when my knee cap decided it no longer wanted to participate in any athletic activities and dislocated MULTIPLE TIMES leading me to MULTIPLE knee surgeries in the future.
When I did play soccer, I was a hoe for Biofreeze. I would lather that shit all over my knee before I would play because literally, fucking running hurt my knees, but that was the price I had to pay to play the game I loved.
I haven’t played soccer competitively since I was a sophomore in high school, and while my soccer career ended that year, my knee problems were just beginning that same year and wouldn’t end just because I decided to hang up my cleats.
I have had two knee surgeries in my life. My first one when I was a junior in high school and my most recent surgery was last August when I was going into my junior year of college.
Today I can’t kneel on that my left leg, I have daily aches and pains, it is constantly swollen, and it makes wearing heels a painful experience (but I still wear them anyway cause they’re fucking cute and I am only five feet tall, so I need the height)
Even though my athletic career ended shortly, working out and exercising my body is very important to both my physical and mental health. So while I may longer be competing against teams, I am competing against myself to better my athletic abilities in the gym.
Glute days are my WORST days. My knee swells up like a tennis ball, and lunges are my enemy. But I know through YEARS of physical therapy that these are the exercises I need to do if I want to build muscle in quads and glutes to prevent my knee cap sliding out of its place when it feels like it.
I thought getting these surgeries would end my knee problems, but I was sadly mistaken. And since working out is so important to my lifestyle, I needed to find a way to work out without having shooting pains throughout my left leg.
CBD was my solution.
Every time I work out I put a CBD lotion on my knee. Its effects reminded me of the Biofreeze that I was obsessed with, but this was 10x stronger than any Biofreeze I had ever used.
And if you love your Biofreeze as much as my high school freshman self did, you don’t have to give it up. They have CBD Biofreeze lotions! BEST OF BOTH WORLDS IF YOU ASK ME.
CBD has analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties, which help alleviate muscle and joint pain. The lotion doesn’t enter the bloodstream, unlike the other consumption methods of using cannabis.
CBD topicals don’t just mask the pain or inflammation that some over-counter pain relief creams do. They can actually make the pain go away due to the high concentration of cannabinoid receptors on the skin. These creams and lotions not only benefit the surface of the skin but can help factors below the skin.
Cannabinoid receptors are part of the body’s endocannabinoid system, which is a regulatory system in the body that affects numerous functions. You can read more about the endocannabinoid system by clicking this link.
CBD creams are not only beneficial for athletes who suffer from joint and muscle pain, but it is also beneficial for patients who suffer from Arthritis, psoriasis, severe itching, and even acne-prone skin.
Before I workout out, I slather a tiny bit of CBD cream on my knee and around it as well. It provides pain relief and helps with the swelling that occurs after I workout. Honestly, if I didn’t have the CBD cream, I would never work out because the pain after working out isn’t worth it. But with my CBD cream, not only do I use it before my workout, but I use it after and throughout the day if something is aching.
Not only do I put the cream on my knee, but I’ll put it on my lower back when it’s inflamed or any other aches I feel in my body. And within about 10 minutes or so, the pain I was once feeling is now gone. In my opinion, this is a much more effective way to treat pain than popping three advils.
Before purchasing any CBD, make sure the product you are buying is what is actually being sold. A lot of companies claim they have CBD in their product, but when tested, there are no traces of CBD in the product. Look for some type of certificate of authenticity stating that this product has been lab-tested and can provide you the lab results of the product you want to purchase.
Listed below is the link to the current CBD lotion I use. Before I went up to the higher mg, I started with the 300mg. I suggest you start with a low dosage and see how that works and then go from there.
